Allo tuturor!!

This week was incredible, for a number of reasons. First off, Sora Gubar discovered her love for peanut butter haha, and it's been helping us get through. One day this week, after we had eaten lunch, Sora Gubar sat down and ate three bananas with peanut butter. She said, "I'm jealous to myself because it's so good" haha. It's so fun to see her discovering the wonders of Romania and America! She's the best.

Food jokes aside, Sora Gubar is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. It was amazing to watch her in Chisinau at zone conference this past Thursday talking to everyone in Russian and then getting back to Iasi and seeing her have this intense desire to go even harder with Romanian. It's a struggle sometimes with the mix of the three languages, but Sora Gubar is progressing and keeping the faith that she can learn Romanian. She's very patient with herself, and I'm so grateful for the positive energy that she brings to every aspect of missionary work!

This week, we had the awesome opportunity to go over with Sora Padure to her neighbors, the Dragan family. They've gone through some big changes recently: the mom, Paula, just had a baby, and her mom ( a member) recently passed away. We had a great discussion with her and her daughter Gabi about how our trials can bring about positive changes in our lives; in their family, Sora Dragan passing away caused the family she left behind to turn to God more. We left them with the commitment to pray as a family, and know that their hearts will continually be changed as they do! I'm so grateful for the blessings that come from doing missionary work alongside members- they're the best!
We also met with a less active member, Florentina, who's getting ready to move to Galati and get married- after finding out that she had already figured that a temple marriage was out of the question because of some things that have happened, we tried to help her see that real change is possible, and that if she has a vision she can work towards that with God's help. We hope that she will give herself this second chance!

I know I mentioned zone conference earlier, but it really was the best! I got to see Carina, Mihai, Cristian, Genia, and Sasha- all recent converts that continue to amaze me with their testimonies and examples. The members in the Republic of Moldova and Zona Moldova (Iasi) really are pioneers!

If you've read all the way down to this point, you get the big news! We are looking forward to a visit from President Uchtdorf at the beginning of September- he will be visiting Romania with his wife and daughter and speaking to the missionaries here at mission conference! I am super stoked that I will get to meet and learn from another apostle!!

The theme of zone conference this time around was gratitude; my favorite thing shared by my good friend Mihai was this:

Being a member for just over a week now, he bore his testimony about the transformation he went to through to be converted, that he knows God is our Heavenly Father and that He loves us, and how it takes a lot of courage and spiritual power to be humble before the Lord, and that all of the success we have is because of God. He went on to talk about how in Matthew 7:16, the Lord says "ye shall know them by their fruits". He said, "I decided to be a delicious peach". Have fun deciding what kind of fruit you want to be!

I love you all and hope this week is a great one!

Cu drag,

Sora Rich
